Wellness Chiropractic Center
Wellness Chiropractic Center Dr. Geno A. Pisciottano’s goal is to help his patients achieve a level of wellness that many didn’t know was possible. The owner of The Wellness Chiropractic Center at Southpointe, Dr. Pisciottano spends a lot of time teaching his patients the fine art of healthy living. And, some pretty important people have learned a few tips from him. One patient in particular, Jerome Bettis of Pittsburgh Steelers fame, even has his picture hanging in the waiting room of the doctor’s new office. “I’ve treated tons of Pittsburgh Steelers,” said the doctor who was celebrating his 37th birthday. Although football players tend to need a lot of chiropractic care, most of Dr. Pisciottano’s patients are regular people who are looking for a healthy lifestyle. “Our main focus is wellness. It is more than chiropractics, it’s a way of eating, drinking right, working out and sleeping well,” he said. “It’s a lifestyle.”
To help promote this healthy lifestyle, he carefully selected the location of his Southpointe office, which is next door to the Health Club at Southpointe. The Health Club features an ultra-modern workout facility with the latest rehabilitation equipment and over 20,000 square feet of workout equipment. “My patients can work out in the gym and come in at will. Most of all it’s covered by insurance. For rehabilitation we can use the gym. It’s more of a lifestyle than anything else. The idea of the clinic is to have everything that you could possible need,” he said, pointing out the close proximity of a café that serves healthy foods, a day spa and a physical therapist. “For our wellness center, this is it.”
Dr. Pisciottano, a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, has been treating patients since 1996 in Peters Township. He opened his Southpointe office in October of 2005, where he promotes the Pro-Adjuster. The doctor, who was instrumental in the development of the Pro-Adjuster, said it is just one of the many high-tech techniques he uses in his office. “It’s a computerized instrument that does the evaluation and the treatment for spinal misalignment,” he said. “It’s state-of-the-art technology.” He said people of all ages can benefit from the Pro-Adjuster and a healthy lifestyle. I treat kids for sinuses and chronic colds, teenage sports players and middle aged businessmen and women to people in the golden years for carpal tunnel and other related symptoms,” he said. “Most people want to be well, but most people don’t know what to do.” To help teach people about lifestyle changes, Dr. Pisciottano holds free Peak Performance workshops for local businesses and organizations. “We also do them in the gym once a month,” he said. “You can do all these things without chiropractic and still benefit. Chiropractic is just part of it.”
According to the doctor, most of his patients require about three visits to the clinic, while some may need 30, depending on the complexity of their problem. In addition to being on top of technology, his patients say he has a bedside manner that is very reassuring. “He tells you how it is. He explains it step by step.” Dr. Pisciottano, who is the health and wellness editor for the Peters Township Magazine and the senior editor for Pro-Solutions for Healthy Living Magazine, said he sees similar changes in all of his patients. “They have more energy, more vitality and again, this is a life-long change, it’s not a temporary fix,” he said. And, he said he is quite honored by the fact that a lot of his patients are referrals from other patients. “Most patients are referred by other patients once they understand the importance of wellness.”
The Wellness Center provides educational and wellness workshops for people at many businesses. These presentations include specific techniques on how to have more energy, prevent on-the-job injuries and improve overall health and productivity. Each workshop is approximately 45 minutes in length and there is no fee involved. This is part of their community awareness program. For the employees that attend the workshop, they will receive certificates of recognition, which meets one of the safety guidelines for OSHA. Peak performance is an interactive workshop that teaches employees how to get the most out of their day, as well as improve alertness, focus and productivity. Please call to schedule a workshop. The Wellness Chiropractic Center at Southpointe is located at 1001 Corporate Drive, Suite 120. For more information, call 724-743-4500.
