TelCove |
TelCove, a facilities-based telecommunications provider, delivers advanced, secure communications for the business community. Name doesn't sound familiar? Until recently, they did business as Adelphia Business Solutions (ABS), which spun off from its parent company, Adelphia Communications, in 2002.
Due to the separation from its former parent, ABS recently changed its name to TelCove and launched a new brand identity to the marketplace. The name TelCove was chosed for several reasons. The prefix "Tel" was chosen because it clearly defines the industry segment in which the company has been a leader for over 11 years. The suffix "cove" was selected for two reasons. First, a cove is a place of safety and security. Today, TelCove seves its more than 9,000 customers via its diverse, redundant fiber network, providing them with a high level of reliability and security for their vital communications needs. Also, cove is found in the word covenant - a pledge or promise.
TelCove has been a resident of the Southpointe business park since May of 2000. "We consider Southpointe a premier business park that attracts a diverse group of businesses, ultimately spurring economic growth for Washington County. That was one of the reasons that TelCove chose to relocate its business to Southpointe," said Bob Guth, president and CEO of TelCove.
Because TelCove wanted the most advanced and secure telecommunication services for their own building, they installed the SONET network throughout a large area of Southpointe and right up to their own front door at 121 Champion Way. For minimal disruption to the setting during construction, the fiber was installed before the sidewalks that run through the park were completed. It was not always an easy build - engineers ran into rocks the size of small cars! The also bored under both sides of Interstate 79 to ensure redundancy, part of the reliability of the TelCove network. The fiber route runs from Southpointe to Bridgeville to Greentree to the Central Office on the Southside of Pittsburgh at 200 Technology Drive (the "other" Technology Drive). The ring also runs through Peters Township, Bethel Park, Pleasant Hills, Homestead, Dravosburg, and back to the Central Office. Their fiber optic network transmits information bi-directionally, for crystal clear, lightning fast, secure communications.
TelCove can offer Southpointe businesses an array of services via its fiber infrastructure in Southpointe, including dedicated point-to-point circuits; high-speed Intercity Private Line sevice, dedicated Internet services and data center solutions; and local voice and long distance services.
TelCove is appreciative of its diverse and committed base of customers from neighboring Southpointe businesses and looks forward to a time when all businesses in Southpointe have the option of making TelCove their choice for communications.
