The firm was founded in 1958 when nine attorneys left another Pittsburgh firm and formed the new firm then named Eckert, Seamans & Cherin. The new firm quickly attracted a number of notable clients, including Alcoa, Westinghouse, Levinson Steel, Equitable Gas, Ford Motor Company and the Great A&P Tea Company. Our founders were considered the best lawyers of their day, and they have imparted their high professional standards on the generations of attorneys who have followed them. We now have more than 245 attorneys operating from our 9 office locations, including our newest office located at the Alcoa Technical Center outside of the City of Pittsburgh from which we manage our multiyear appointment to oversee all of Alcoa's intellectual property work nationally and internationally.
